My name is Roma Loukes and I am a lyric soprano. Michelle was my first ever singing teacher when I began to sing at the age of eleven. I stayed at La Nova studios until the age of 23 when I started studying at the Birmingham Conservatoire. I couldn't imagine a better first teacher than Michelle. With her I developed a safe and effective technique with deep, relaxed breathing, brilliance of tone, stamina and free easy high notes. Michelle also helped me to find the placement of the voice so I am now able to sing through long rehearsals and carry over a big orchestra without causing tension or tiredness. This is essential for my career. I am often complimented on the security and beauty of my high notes as well the power of my voice. I must attribute the essence of my voice to Michelle: I still approach the onset of a tone in the way I learnt with her.

After completing my degree I worked in the UK at Opera Holland Park, Welsh National Opera and Buxton Gilbert and Sullivan festival, before moving to Sweden to study at the Stockholm Opera studio. In Sweden I have performed at the Royal Stockholm Opera, Folkoperan, Gothenburg Opera and Cirkus theatre.
