Michelle Nova is a Spinto Soprano, singing teacher, Choral Conductor, Principal of La Nova Studios, Director of La Nova Singers and published author.
As well as her own professional performing career, Michelle has worked with children in Ireland, Norway, London and Dorset ageing from 8yrs-18yrs giving workshops in singing and performing, the Dorset Music Service and as an independent singing teacher at Bournemouth University and schools across the South. In 1991 she formed the Casterbridge Youth Opera, directing and conducting the forty young singers in performances including, The Fire Maid, Pirates of Penzance (G&S), The Snow Queen, Persephone and an abridged version for children of Engelbert Humperdinck’s, Hansel and Gretel.
She has been invited to give workshops at NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) courses, Festival adjudicator, Choral conductor for many choral societies and vocal facilitator. An article written by Michelle on ‘The Importance of a Good Vocal Technique’ was published in the national magazine of the Musicians Union.
In 2007 Michelle was invited to teach in Sandane, one of Norway’s leading Music Colleges, as part of a musical cultural exchange and Norwegian Soprano/singing teacher, Katrine Imerslund, came over to observe and work with students at La Nova Studios.

Michelle began choral singing at the age of 14 and commenced her voice training in Dorset at the age of 22. The late Robert Keys, retired musical director at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, encouraged Michelle to study the Italian style of singing, Bel Canto, which she later went on to do in London furthering the voice, studying Bel Canto and General Italian technique with independent singing teacher, Antonio Manzoni. She also received training with Opera 80 and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden working with Nina Walker and Richard Gregson, for which an article was written in the Sunday Times about her solo performance in Eugene Onegin. She was also a founder member of Floral Street Opera, Covent Garden, which was formed as a training company for young opera singers.
Since 1992 Michelle has given concerts and recitals across the UK, Ireland and America, a one-hour live broadcast on Classic FM, interviews on BBC Radio, BBC Radio Guernsey, Radio Solent and Hope FM. She has had articles in newspapers and magazines about her professional singing and teaching work in London, Dorset, Ireland and Norway.
